This question has probably been asked before, but I'm new and a civillian so please indulge me. Since the standard M118 loads aren't as accurate as, say, hand loaded BTHP or Federal GMM, can you use them in a military engagement? It seems like you should be able to since they are non-fragmenting rounds. I know that the military has come out with the M118LR, but I'm still curious.

It's okay...this one comes up a lot :D

Yup, you can legally use them, since they have no real terminal difference in effect from regular old FMJ ammo. They are fully jacketed, non expanding rounds and the hollowpoint is just a manufacturing by-product.

hollow point is bad terminology......the army likes to use the phrase "Open Tip Match". i guess that's the "politically correct" terminology nowadays.
