I have a Ruger Mini-14 that I'd like to accurize. What can be done, short of replacing the barrel? Who makes or sells a good quality replacement stock? Just keep in mind that it's a $200 rifle, so I'm not going to spend $500 to get it shooting straight. Yes, I know it will never be a tackdriver. BTW does anyone know if Ruger is going to start making the folding stock version of the Mini-14 again?

Ive seen Customized Mini-14's out shoot high end bolt guns... youd be surprised what you can do with em. There was an article in Rifle Shooter a few years back... it had dozens of things you can do to the Mini-14 to accurize and customize it. There are a few nice Folder / Pistol grip stocks for it... i have one on mine and it works great. I believe its made by Choate... or at least looks like it is.

I found an article on the internet a couple of years ago on how to accurize them. I remember something about the op rod and the torque on the gas block. Look around on the internet, I am sure the info is somewhere. Also there used to be a couple of books out on the. A third option is get the video from the american gunsmithing instute Click below for their site.

They have some good informative videos for numerious weapons.

Talk to these guys, very nice fellas. I was going to send my mini 30 out to them, just never got around to doing it.

I do not think that Ruger will ever sell mags over 5rnds (for rifles) or folding stocks to the civil. market. EVER AGAIN..........its not PC, they are a little like colt.

Yeah...Very true.

Ruger pretty much proposed the high capacity magazine ban himself just to save the M14, lest it end up an assault weapon.

Smith & Wesson Sells Out Gun Industry
On March 17, 2000 Smith and Wesson sold out the gun industry and the American Gun Owners to the Nazi tactics
of the Clinton-Gore Administration. If you think your rights are not on the chopping block, then put
your head back in the sand.

If you're not a member of a pro-gun organization such as the NRA, CRPA or a local grass roots council,
then you're part of the problem.

Join the NRA today and become part of the solution. The NRA is on the move and challenging the
Clinton-Gore gun grabbers. They are growing daily and currently 3.5 million members are
supporting the rights of 80 million gun owners. If you're not a member, what's your problem?

It is time for all gun owners to get involved and protect their rights. Don't fool yourself into thinking
that they're only after "assault weapons." Your hunting rifle, trap & skeet shotgun and single action
revolvers are next! All gun owners need to step up to the plate by challenging their favorite local
gun dealer to cease carrying Smith & Wesson products and purge existing stock. If your dealer
doesn't, then find a new place to buy your firearms and other suppllies. It's time to stand up
and be counted the same as our forefathers did some 226 years ago.

Stand up now and be counted or forever hold your peace, for you will not have
earned your rights.

Tell Mr. Schultz that if he wants to be the scapegoat or the pawn for the English then pack up and
move there. We are free men here in America.

ARM USA no longer sells Smith and Wesson products, other than those which were in stock BEFORE
S&W signed the Clinton & Wesson agreement. ARM USA will NOT be subject to restrictions and
regulations set forth therein. We feel the agreement is unconsititutional, un-American, and violates
every law-abiding American's god-given right to keep and bear arms.

I used to be a huge S&W fan, and then they pulled this (but I thought it was before 2000??) . I did boycott them, as did many people, and S&W actually felt the pain. They have since done several things to try and improve their reputation. I have still not purchased another S&W, but I do look at them again.... (I still have my S&W1006 that I bought in 1988, or there abouts)

In all fairness it should be noted that S&W are now under new ownership.

The new owners have gone on record to apologize for the misdeeds of the previous regime. The previous owners were from the Union of Socialist Soviet British Republics.

S&W are now American owned. If you have any doubt, please write to S&W directly.

I really want to get one of there S&W Performance Center .500 S&W Magnum revolvers... i saw one at the local gun store for around 1,400 bucks with a nice red dot on it that matched the color perfectly... i had to walk over to the rifle section for fear i would pull out my wallet...

And to be honest... i have no use for somthing like that... besides maybe obliterating some grape fruit at the range.

I have a 3in M65 and I've always wanted a 625. But do you think we could get back to making my Mini-14 shoot straight!

Just like I said before---Only way^

If you google you can find the tork (sp?) specks for the gas block and what to gap it to on each side. This will help a little, it puts even pressure on the barrel. Unless you spend some major $ your mini will not be a tack driver, just a little lead slinger.
