I bought this over the summer in Arizona. It is a Ruger mini-14 Ranch Model .223 caliber

Now I know this isn't a sniper rifle but it sure is fun. Plus I ordered a SC1A5 so Iam very excited just not looking forward to the long wait time.

To tell you the truth Iam not sure about the accuracy. I have never tried to shoot it against a traget and do group shots. Yeah...the tapped magazines didn't work out, the weight of the second magazine would pull the other magazine slightly out of alignment and the round wouldn't feed into the chamber.

It's fun to shoot stuff close in. It's my mess around weapon.

It was more of an issue with dropping onto the dirt and getting dirt and debries crammed into the magazine. Not too much of an issue if you are out in the boonies plinking gophers, and more of an issue if you are getting shot at. That's outside of the possibility of rounds just falling out of the mag when lying around on the ground.

Accuracy with Mini-14's is hit or miss... they are currently re designing the Mini-14 to get a minimum of 3 MOA with M-193 ammunition. I have a mini-14 that can (if there isnt any wind or rain... things like that) get 1.3 MOA groups with iron sights. That is with human error and the ever changing variables of the enviornment. I have fired a friends mini-14 and i think it was more like 4 MOA with his... so it isnt exactly the most consistant factory rifle ever... but its not made to be. Its made to be the winchester of the modern day. "Field" accurate... Reliable... of a good and common caliber... and simple in design. Which it is!

Went shooting today so I though I might update the pic. I hit a pumkin 5/5 times at 150 yards, fired all five shots in about 6-7 seconds so I am very pleased. :D

Pumkin was about 13 inches high and about 7 inches wide. Sorry I didn't post a pic of it but there wasn't much left when my SC1 was done with it.

yep were all gonna get overrun by pumpkins ;)

glad to know the SC can hit a pumpkin at 150y ;)

well its either a good or bad thing about the mini 14
it doesnt look like an evil assault rifle which you might want ot piss the liberals off while the mini 14 is less prone to pointless leglislation cause it doesnt look like a 'military rifle' ie you being able to buy it in Peoples Republic Of California under Premier Schwarzenegger (sp?) the Forigner

What I don't understand is how Arnie was a conscript in the Austrian army, yet in action films still doesnt seem to realise which end the bullets come out of.

I wander if he was a body builder before he was conscripted; I can't imagine anybody giving him any stick if he was.
