Is there an advantage using a one piece base over a two piece? Didn't know if there is one or if it's just a personal preference.

Well, its "mainly" a personal preference. Some people argue that a one piece actually makes the action more rigid which can "aid" in accuracy & consistency. I doubt this is measurable, but in theory it might hold up.

I personally like one piece, but use both. The one piece weaver/picnanny style offers me more comfort that the rings are more aligned.

I prefer the two base, one base soemtimes doesn't fit perfectly. I have seen them stick out here and there. Two base you can move either one so they are flush.
