I'm going to purchase a Springfield Armory M1A Super Match, The Stock will be the USMC Camo, and im still thinking about what barrel to go with, but my main question is optics, i will be using a Gen III mount so i can take it off for use in service rifle matches, i want to spend around $800 for a quility optic with mil-dot's, and side focus knob, and target knobs like on the US Optics MST-100, anyone got any idea's

congradulations on the rifle!!!
one of the finest semi-auto rifles there is in my opinion
love the stock and camo pattern
dont know about the douglas barrels but i know krieger is good dont know of any other options for the super match

im not sure what the lowest end US Optics scopes go for, might want to consider a Leupold VX-III tactical model or pay a little more for the Leupold Mk4 M1, its over $800 though

Ya, i looked and those and know that they are good choices, with the quility of the rifle, I may just wait a few for weeks and spend $1100, because i was looking at the Nightforce 3*12*50 i think it was and oh do i like, if i did go with the extra cash would this me a good choice for my money

for the same money you can get a USO and have better quality and durability.

I have heard many good things of NighForce however for that kind of money I would have to recommned U.S. Optics. Leupold MK4 is a very good line of scopes as well. Speak from experience on the latter. 8)

as a follow up, if you cannot find the leupold Mk4 PR 4.5-14x40mm with mil-dots for $650 or less, let me know. You should be able to get the LR 4.5-14x50mm w/mil-dots for $800-$850. Both scopes are very good

mele, what would you go with the 40mm or the 50mm, it looks like from the feedback i will go with the leupold Mk4 PR or LR, would the 50mm just give me a little more light collecting, for low light situations, also just putting my parts and accesories list together what mounting rings are good ive used burris with great performance, but the Leupold units look good too, also what length bi-pod should i use so that a 20rd box will not get in the way when prone, or does it matter

In terms of the scopes, yes, the 10 extra mm gives you some more light. But the other thing you get with the LR 50mm is the M1 knobs vs. the standard target knobs found on the PR 40mm. Thats about it. They both have the index matched lenses and same coatings. Both are great scopes
