I went to a gunstore recently and was shown a box of PCA (Poilmer Cased Ammunition) for my AR-15. It was pretty cheap ($5 per 20 rds.) and was super light, but I'm not so sure about shooting a plastic cartridge from an AR. Does anyone know about this stuff and how good it is?

The .223 is a fairly HOT [temp wise] round. If the case of that round starts to breakup, it could cause a mess in your operational system of the AR. Be careful! I have never seen a round like the one you are describing.

never herd of it
i have to agree with DR308 though

if you are looking into plastic ammo to save money: id suggest you go to cheaperthandirt.com and find some Remington UMC, Winchester USA (Q3131A), Federal American Eagle brand or Federal XM193 which works best in my Bushmaster M4, they also have SS109 reasonably priced ($3.79/20 rds of XM193 which i use, UMC, American Eagle and i thinK USA brands are cheaper than that)

I have seen the .223 ammo you are talking about. I havent heard anything about it except that problems do arise with ejection and feeding in full automatic mode. Other than that they work about the same. Didn't get the scoop on how accurate they are.
