I have a friend who is my regular shooting partner and he has recently brought to my attention a "revelation" of sort she seems to think he has had. When he buys ammo(standart remington hunting ammo from wally world) he says he takes the bullets and clamps the casing into a drill and then polishes the bullet with rubbing compound to rid it of any imperfections. Now this sounds like a load of crap to me. He has been shooting a little better lately though.

whit is you guys take ont this practice, i would think it would allow gases to escape around the bullet, decreasing muzzle velocity and maybe increasing barrell wear as you would have to take off a fine layer of the bullet material.
