Is there not something wrong with us if we cannot take an objective view of an issue that we might have no feelings toward whatsoever?
I agree more with Westpointranger when he says we merely have to keep our emotions in check, as opposed to ignoring these sensitive issues altogether... how else will we expand our minds and incorporate new ideas, as well as rid ourselves of bad ones, if we do not explore that which we do not know/do not agree with?
There are those people who would turn a conversation, a dialectic, into a fight... but those people simply need to be shown the error of their ways, or disregarded. It should be the responsibility of all else involved to simply sidestep such anger and frustration which accumulates with thickheadedness.
I like the discussions the people on this site have, because as I've said before, everyone proves themselves fairly intelligent and patient to hear opposing views.
