What can Bubba and $5,000 do to an M1 Garand? Thats what...It's got more "bling bling" than a rapper and looks like it was used by a James Bond villain. Where did they find that thing? Saddam's Palace?
What a way to treat a vet! I guess everbody has their own way of thinking. I afterall have a blued Garand, but it is presentation Match Rifle. I like my garands in good park, in a nicely done wood stock, but thats just me.
The Soviets gave the SVD a bayonet because the concept was for the platoon's designated marksman (or squad's) to carry the rifle with him, and eventually he'd need to figure out a way to stab someone close-quarters without dropping his 1.5 metre long rifle.
