Take off the Bi-pod, Extended Cheek rest and it isn't too bad. The bayonet is a bit overboard as well.

I perfer complete restorations, nothing beats'em.

Edit: At least it isn't chrome'd. I've seen a garand with chrome :?

What a way to treat a vet! I guess everbody has their own way of thinking. I afterall have a blued Garand, but it is presentation Match Rifle. I like my garands in good park, in a nicely done wood stock, but thats just me.

Looks like they had an MC-1 (Marine Sniper Version of an M-1)

... tried to turn it into an M-1C

... then decided to scrap that and try to convert it to an M-1D....

then said screw it and went space age on it. They have officially BASTERDIZED this grand ol rifle  :x

That they have.

The Soviets gave the SVD a bayonet because the concept was for the platoon's designated marksman (or squad's) to carry the rifle with him, and eventually he'd need to figure out a way to stab someone close-quarters without dropping his 1.5 metre long rifle.
