Howdy all. From alot of posts it seem many of you guys there in the US have dificulity accessing rifle ranges.:?

Where I live I have access to 2 club ranges. One 200m and the other 600m. Both are free for members and both have concrete benches rain water tanks , toilets and BBQ. 95% of the time me an my mate have the place to ourselves. As you can see in the pic below we like to spread our gear out and get comfortable for the day.

We supply our own targets and use target frames and steel shillouets proveded. But most importantly we take our rubish with us. We are our own range officers....and we find we get more shooting and load development in, not haveing to wait for cease fires.

In this part of Canada, I have access to one range.

Outdoors range, fifteen shooting benches, distances from 10 meters to 350.

Nothing fancy, just the dirt berms and the target braces. Washrooms are fifteen meters back from the firing line, to the South of the range. Parking lot doubles as BBQ pit, et cetera, et cetera.

hmmmmm let me see. I belong to two outdoor ranges.

American Shooting Centers - 2 lanes for shooting 15 yard steel targets, roughly 50 slots for shooting 7, 10, 15 yarrd pistol. 50 lanes for 100 yard rifle (wooden benchs), 20 lanes for 200 yard rifle (concrete benches), 20 lanes for 300 yard rifle (concrete benches) 400 yard firing line - no bench; 600 yard line no bench.

Bayou Rifles has smaller pistol and 100 yard rifle range. 200 & 300 dedicated rifle range with pits (15 lanes); 600 yard rifle and 1,000 yard rifle (dedicated pits) 15 lanes.

There are at least 5 other rifle ranges with 200 yard lines within 30 minutes drive and several more with 600 yard rifle witihin an hour drive.

Probably 10 other locations to shoot pistol, including indoor ranges.

There are 3 range complexes in the town I live. I'm a member to one that I use for my 100 yard rifle evals and sightins. It has numerous ranges within the complex, the furthest is 300 yards. There is another complex here that goes to 1000 yards. I personally have my own area I use for my long range unknown distance shooting. It goes from 250-1000 meters with an infinite amount of shooting stations (use your imagination). Its a canyon on public land. I have a 20"x17" hardened steel plate on the side of the mountain at the end of the canyon. By far my favorite place to shoot.

Where I live we have one Range and it's for the police only so if you don't have connections (like myself) your screwed.

Though....about an hour away there is some Federal Land which is nothing but a bunch of desert as far as your eyes can see. There is one dirt road leading into the area known as Bradshaw. The cool thing is that on the left side of the road there are signs placed about every 15yds that say you are entering a military bombing zone, it is against the law to enter and you enter at your own risk. LOL!! I have camped out there before but at night it reall lights up if you know what i mean :D
