Recoil Balance is what a BR shooter is looking for so his rifle recoils in as perfect a line, straight back, as possible with no muzzle jump. This will also depend on whether they have a straight stock or one that is tapered. Since most BR rifles have a nice heavy barrel to begin with it's a matter of adding or subtracting weight to/from the stock. In classes where weight is limited and they are at the weight limit, moving the point where the rifle sits on the rest forward or back can affect the "recoil balance".
