Hi I haven't logged in here for a while, but would like to ask you guys if you can paint the action particularly the bolt of a rifle with spray paint or does the paint have to be baked on or coated by a professional?. My rifle is a Rem 700 BDL in .270 cal. If anyone can anwser this it would be greatly appreciated, is was just seeing if i could make my rifle a little more personalized without a huge expense. Thanks.

The short answer is yes, you can spray paint your rifle, but it would not be advisable on internal parts like the bolt. The problem is that the paint does not adhere the greatest to the metal and easily scrapes off. And as Troy R said, it would scape off of the bolt and gum up the action. So if you do spray paint, just do the exterior parts, but do not expect it to last long.
