In the film Leon, many of you will probably know it as The Professional, Jean Reno and Nathalie Portman are on top of a building, and Leon supposedly teaches her to snipe. I'm no good at recognising rifles and was wondering what was the rifle they were using?

Actually its an AR-15 rifle thats been really tricked out into a sniper rifle. You can tell by the action, i know because i was wondering what it was when i first saw the movie, but i manged to figure out it was an AR-15 (Its a good movie so I usally watch it more than once). The buttstock thingy fooled me at first (It looked like an AK variation), but then I noticed the AR-15 action and freefloating barrel and the hand grips. If you are intersted in the cool looking stock, MidwayUSA sells it.

It's not bad.

And the young Natalie Portman proves why she's still getting new movie contracts to this date. Jean Reno is always good. So yeah, it's worth watching in my opinion. It's not a typical action, nor is it an awfully "realistic" movie. It's more of a ...well, I don't really know what to call it..but my mother was about 45 when she saw it and she liked it, I like it - and I'm not a 45yo woman, by the way. Basically, it's a fairly good story with good actors, I'd say.

Yeah, I've been trying to figure this rifle out also. We certainly need to be searching foreign rifles. I also know it is a real rifle because matt damon actually shot the thing during his training for the movie. In fact, he had an interesting comment about his firearms training. He said something to the effect of "it doesn't sound like me, but I ended up enjoying my time at the range". The enjoyment of shooting must have bit another one!

I did notice the Zeiss optics on the rifle though.

It's been my experience that the majority of people who feel someone hesitant toward firearms are amazed by 1) the safety of firearm enthusiasm, and 2) the great amount of fun to be had with it. You simply have to take 'em out once and for the majority of people, they'll ask you later, "When are we going to shoot again?!"
