We got a Ruger Precision in 300 Win Mag and are taking it to the 100 yard range shortly.
Vortex Venom 5-25x56mm scope, Accu-Tec Bipod.

We have 150 and 180gr ammo in stock, the 150 is Winchester Power Point and the 180 gr I can't recall offhand, I think Federal Power Shok.
We have:
FEDERAL 300 WIN MAG 190 GR SIERRA MATCHKING BTHP
BARNES PRECISION MATCH OPEN TIP 300 WIN MAG 220GR
coming this week.

Anyone have experience with the RPR in 300 Win Mag and if so, what ammo is it liking for 100, 200, 300+ yards?
We'll be shooting 2-300 in a couple weeks and hopefully 1000 yds in the spring time.

I shot it at 25 yds yesterday and it's same hole with the Winchester Power Point 150gr.

Thanks for any ideas.

You probably know this by now, but the 180 grain power shok are utterly horrible in that gun (or at least in my one). The winchester super x 180 grain are good. Haven't tried any other factory stuff though, so I'm not sure. Did you find out any good stuff for the gun?

I'm liking the factory Federal match 190 gr.
Have only taken out to 300m so far, one time.
Going again next month.
Then 500+ late summer.
This is at 100m, no rear rest.

Ok, cool. They do a similar thing to the 180g federal powershoks that I used, they do pretty well and 100-200, but start to fall apart at 300-500m. Try some 180 grain super X out, I think you will be pleasantly surprised. Was getting around 2.5 inch grouping at 400m.
My reloads with SST hornady (480bc 180g bullets, with 72.8g of powder 2960fps) tend to be fairly good out to 600m.
I have been looking at the hornady eldx 208g projectiles, and I'm trying to push out more consistent shots at 400-600m, as my goal eventually is 1000-1400... But yea, I have a ways to go for that... Probably next summer for me.
If you try any more factory rounds I would love to see how they go, it is really difficult for me to get factory ammo where I am, so it is hard for me to experiment!

OK, will do.
No excuses but as you can see from the 200 and 300 yard targets being curled up a little, it was cold, windy and raining that day, Nov.21, 2021 in SW Ontario, just SE of London, ON.
Range is a 2 hour drive from my house so I had no choice but to shoot, whatever the conditions.
Also, i had to sit on my coat since the bench provided was too low, even with my AccuTac bipod set at lowest position.
Froze my arse off LOL!
Next time I go, I'll have a rear rest and bring a seat cushion to get a better shooting position.

True, that all does make a huge difference. Where live it is consistently 30C (89F), so yea, makes shooting a bit easier!
