Just to let you know for future refrence Remington does not sell a variant of the M40A1. But I can recommend a book about snipping and about rifles. I would higly recommend The Ultimate Sniper by John Plaster.
Well I know of Ed Brown that makes a very good variant of the A1 but it is not to exact specs (mainly the big difference is they use their own action not a 700). Tac Ops makes a variant also, but again not to exact specs. http://www.TexasBrigadeArmory.com is the closest duplicate of the original that I have seen. And I'm sure Mel would be able to make one to specs. But of course all of these are high dollar rifles. There is no $1,000 special, or if Mel can find away to do it that cheaply.
