Here's something I came across that made me laugh. A little pissed too, but it's funny.

bad link
Just cut and paste the link. It ties in the into the url so it shows as a dead link. It is fine if you cut that out.

Boy, someone really fudged his frillies.

Just wait until he sees Mels game, cause thats what snipings all about!

Sounds to me like he gets killed by snipers a lot lol
Heheh... most 14 year old kids are going to hate my game....

MEL
i bet they will lol... gonna be too realistic

one gamer who just got into shooting and got himself a surplus Garand came to the range with me he was like WTF... AWP whore
you just need to point it and pull the trigger with that thing no skill involved
i let him try and he shot a group that measured 5.3" @ 100y... and bruised his shoulder from the .308 round
i shot a 5 shot group that measured .37" @ 100y with my Rem 700P... that shut him up :)
Thats why they have MTV and Skateboards Mel 8)
Baawahahahaaaa, kids and their video games. If he played better, he wouldnt be getting sniped, lol. I used to play Delta Force games, and i was always the sniper. You spend 1/2 the game running 700meters out and away from the hot spot, and camp out on a hill and pluck them off like fish in a barrel. It might not be as fun as running around shooting and dying, but hey, it hones your skills IMO. If they used commen sence, like take cover and keep our ass moving or down, you wouldnt die as much. What is this game mele is making? I havent heard anything about it.
Yeah, Jay...I think he just gets picked off all the time is all...

Mel's makin a real deal sniper simulator with real guns, real ballistics, real tactics and weather effects.

Personally I think it will be kinda popular with the younguns. The bunch of em here seem into it and I think they're at company strength now. :p
Ah, this is why I enjoy OFP so much. If you try to work exclusively with a sniper rifle there, you are absolutely jack-**** worthless, because ammo type factors into targets, rather than "Hitpoints." You're not taking out that MechInf squad inside their M-113A2 with an SVD, and with an SVD, you need to carry a fair few 10 round magazines, not leaving you a lot of room for an RPG. For example.

This really seems dedicated towards the standard "Run and Gun." I like AA/O because one has to qualify to be a sniper or SF. I absolutely bloody hate AA/O because it's treated as CS by most of the dipshits. The sad part is that techniques like that work.

CS [CounterStrike] = The bane of all games.
HL [Half-Life] = The bane of all games, from whose loins CS, the syphilis of all games, sprouted.

Obviously the author has a 'run and gun' technique. Poor, stupid bastard. He must see "pWneD!" a lot.
I'm a gamer myself, though rarely multiplayer. I think sniper rifles in games like Ghost Recon are fine, but aren't very realistic. Of course none of the firearms are realistic, but some realism is sacrificed for gameplay. Since a lot of these players can't get training and learn to take things bullet drop into account, I think game makers are trying to make it more accessible. I guess it also makes it easier for these untriained people to go from clearing a shanty town in Eritrea to picking off other snipers in the Cuban jungle; a lot of these games are ones where one player can control several operatives with different specialties. One other thing that occurs to me is it might be cost prohibitive to have many weapons progammed so realisitically. Then this guy would would have a tissy fit about needing to be rich to buy the games. The kind of game like Mel's doing should do well since there are people who want games that real. I'm looking forward to it.
Yep, Mels game sure caters to a definate target audience. I'm chomping at the bit to buy that one...

What I like about games as in realism is the effects of the weapons. At least some bullet drop, penetration of obstacles, realistic sights, etc...The realism of the sights made Call of Duty really fun for me.

Still tho...they all just make me want to go to the range.
Man, iI'll buy your game Mel......Gettin tired of Shellshock Nam 67, and Freedom Fighters. I still play my Silent Scope game with the Xbox rifle multiple times a week though :D

When Im not busy at work that is!

I learned the hard way like that too! Did he draw that group with his Garand, or 700P? If he drew that group at 100 yards with his Garand, not bad for first time out I say. The kick should have been almost the same in both cases.
Work is steadily progressing on it. I hope to have the first "basic" demo out soon. AI is non existent right now... just a dumb robot out there who just stands there (or walks around) getting shot at. I'm currently working on the ballistics model and distance perception. There is a problem of distance perception, everything appears much further away than it really is. But I've been working on a solution that is working well.

For the demo, the uniform and equipment will be wrong... but that will get changed later....

MEL
12-twist:
thats with my Remington 700P scoped at 9x, Federal match ammo, target 100y away, harris bi-pod under the gun
just so much for his idea it was easy to shoot and anyone could take shots at 1000y

he was barely on the paper with the garand
said he coudlnt keep the sights aligned and was firing when the sights wernt dead center
i had to work with him to get the rifle on paper
shot it myself, it wasnt a bad shooter, groups were about 2.5" so certainately capable of hitting the paper
Ah yes, I remember well my first shots with a Garand....I did walk away with a bruise, only hit the paper once or twice.
I was suprised at the kick from mine the first time...I'd shot 30-06 before but I was expecting less from a "heavy weapon" lol. Totally used to it now.

Mel, could ya leave mine like that on the real game? I don't wanna die! Kidding, but great to hear the game is coming along so well!
Hey guys i bet thats gunna be a sweet game............i play Delta Force black hawk down alot..............its very cool but not too realistic.....im a sniper i use the .300tactical..........does anyone else play this game??
