try the tasco "pronghorn" series of scopes. I have had a fixed 4X32 on a ruger 10/22 for about 6-7 years without one problem. Baged a lot of little critters with it!!

I agree with Mel, stay away from BSA. Might want to look at Leapers??

Just really depends on what you want..........I guess the Tasco line that starts at $89 for a 3-9X40 is pretty good for the money. Next I would say the Nikon Buckmaster class, I think they start at $199?????

Try this - Go to walmart, buy the scope you want (be sure to keep the box and paperwork) if it craps out on you take it back! In the past this work for a fiend of mine (a cheap friend )
