Ok so im diggin through the gun safe looking for another 30-06 i have when i saw an old old rifle i forgot i had. Its an old Springfield 1873, when i say old, i MEAN old, lol. But its in rather good condition for something thats 132 years old, the wood is still intact, looks nice and smooth, no rust, and the hammer and trapdoor opens and moves freely. Do most gun shops do apprasials? I looked on the internet and saw the average prices go for about $675-$950. Is there any sites that you guys know of that have a price guide or can rate the quality of these old school rifles? Thanks.

There is a book called "The blue book of gun values" that should help. You will need to talk to someone who knows these rifles, most gunshops are not totally up to speed on collectable rifles... but you might find one who DOES know about them

The Blue Book of Gun Values is authored by Mr. Fjestad.

Anyhow, I say that a gun's true value is whatever someone else will pay for it. I say hang onto that gun. If it has a good bore, someone would pay more than $1000 for it.

Jay tell me the ser# make model and anything that you can think of and I will try to look it up tomarrow. I have to do this fairly often, and have become rather familiar. If I can not find it I will talk to fjestad himself. He wants to buy my limited edition stainless ssg69. There is no way in hell I am parting with it though.
