stock painting

I have a HS Precison stock(black). I am wanting to paint it a tan/sand color. Does anyone have a particluar brand of paint to use? Do I need to spray a primer coat on first?

Thanks for your help. I have been a long time reader of the forum and this is my first post.

Not real fond of the first link.

But I like the second link. I perfer grays opposed to blacks for winter settings. The second link looks like it would get the job done very well.
