looking for information on Tasco's 10x42 mil dot scope advertised as a navy contract type. anyone have thoughts or experience with one? :twisted:

I have one of the 10x42m models with the side focus. I also have an older Leupold Ultra mark 4. The tasco compares relativly well with the leupold as far as durability, and precise repeatable adjustments. As far as optics, The Super Sniper is not quite on par with the Leupold, However the Leupold is three times more money. Do not take this wrong, the Super Sniper has good optics. For the price I dont believe you could find a better scope. Also I read on SWFA website there is a new scope on the way from a new manufacturer, its called X.O.T.I.C. USS, it sounds to be really good. The SWFA rep says it should be comparable to the Night Force scopes. It lists for $799.00 and will be out in the fall of 2004.

Thanks for the reply regarding the scope what Caliber /s have you used it with? my intentions are for a Rem 700 in .308 ie the 700p version,also have you used it at longer ranges such as 600 to say 800 yards/meters? 8)

I have used it on a .308 only, and have used it out to 800yds with no problems at all. In fact there is a picture in the gallery of one of my rifles with it on it. I think you would be happy with one, for the money there is no better.

10x42 mildot

I just got one and have it on my savage .300wm. Havn't gotten a chance to do anything but zero it at 100yds yet. So far the scope is awesome for the money. Optics are very clear, reticle is crisp, feels very strudy and the adjustments are very accurate and repeatable. Recoil on my relativley light savage 110 is pretty harsh so we'll see if the scope holds up... its rated for .50's so it better

Tasco 10X42

Awesome scope. I would recommend it to anyone who is wanting a quality scope without spending 6-$700 for one. I have three and they work just as well as my Leupold did.

Exactly how much do they cost? I personally haave never seen one for sale, and if I did I probably would have been wary of the Tasco logo on it...

Thanks Geko. After reading this post, I went searching on the web for more reviews of the Super Sniper, and have become convinced (mainly from the article in Sniper's Hide) that they are really good scopes, that would normally retail for around $800. Not a bad buy!
