All I can say is WoW.

People have always been worried about sniper rifles being sold to the public but that was pretty extreme.

99% of people who would want to kill someone are going to pick up a saturday night special handgun. Walk up to someone and pull the trigger.

They are not going to read books, spend thousands of dollors on gear....and spend countless hours at the range working of thier math skills.

The truth is most people who attemp sniper kills on the public (DC as an example) are making shots within 100 yards.

I think it just terrifies people that there are people in the world who can shoot them from so far away it will be a few seconds before they even hear the shot.

My 2 cents.

I agree wow!!! All that training down the drain, leaving only a grumpy old guy that can shoot pretty good.

However, I feel a strong need to send them an email about the Canadian sniper team setting a new distance sniper record in Afganastan. I'm sure it will make them feel better about themselves.

Well, no, I have not changed the way I do my page. That report is several years old (has my old URL, which I changed about 4 years ago). Now, my site has been on congressional watch lists, and a few other things, but one benefit my page has, is that its not a black background "how to" web page. I think that spared me a lot of scrutiny when the whole DC murders were happening.

But, we do need to be aware of a lot of mis information out there like this. I was scheduled to go on a national radio talk show, and was intereviewed by several national publications about the whole DC fiasco while it was happening, and then they caught them, and I didn't go on the radio, and my interviews were never published. I was glad they were caught, but bummed my comments were never put out print and made public, as everyone of my predictions were right on. (well, I predicted a van they were shooting from, not a car...).

Anyway, thanks for pointing that out, we all need to be careful about mis-information leading the uneducated into paranoia.

Heh, reading that reminds me that the most common caliber involved in lethal shots among civilians and civilian authorities, both deliberate and accidental, is the .22(thus not taking into account military operations or accidents). The funny thing is that the statistics for that match up from all over the western world and many eastern countries too.

wow
lame...
what are they afraid of? gangsters picking eachother off at 1000m?
who do you know that can make 1000m kills by learning how to shoot watching rap vidoeos and thinks that holding thier pistol sideways is the right way to hold it
target shooters, hunters, everyone can use more accuracy, reliability, durability etc, 'sniper' rifles give them just that
same with assault rifles: why do civilians buy them? cause they are rifles that better suit thier needs in self defence and at the range
btw nice site Mel, gives me good information on rifles, your rifle reviews gave me information on the 700P and this message board also helped me come to my decision on what im going to get
and am i the only person here who knows what a real sniper is?, and appreciates them fighting for my freedom
