What is the difference...I'm buying one of the two for the m1 carbine...they are the same price but what is the dif between the two?

i think there the same thing
think they cost the same ammount, look the same, should be the same anyway
good scope for its price range

They are not the same scopes. Both scopes are their entry level models made to compete with the lower priced scopes in the market. The VX-I is just a little better in all regards than the rifleman. Better lenses & coatings and a bit better adjustment system. If you could afford it, I would recommend the VX-II, they are worth the extra money. The rifleman & VX-I do not have click adjustments, they are just friction type, and the quality of everything on the VX-II is worth it.

Honestly, I'd seriously look at other makes of scopes for the same price before buying the VXI & rifleman scopes. For example, the burris fullfield II 3-9x40mm is a suprior scope than both the rifleman and VX-I at less price.

Just my suggestion.
