I want to know what best sniper rifles are out there.

**I know my english is bad but I am trying my best.**

Rules:

1) Post Picture first and then describe it like data, information, and your opinions. You don't have to make data as very details. You can just link it up but still must picture on your post.

2) Must be not .50 cal or more than that.

3) Post two version of rifles, one for military and other for civilian. There is no limit for each military or civilian. You can post more than one rifles for each military or civilian. If you felt that, you cannot choose only one best rifle for each military or civilian.

4) No off topic other than this topic.

5) If you disagree or want to debate with someone's comment and do not post it here. You shall create other thread and debate over there. This thread all about your opinion or feeling that you think those rifles are best rifles for military and or civilian.

Hi DeerHunter,

Just to clarify before I dig around for pics...what are the criteria for a great "civilian" sniper rifle...Just something a civilian can legally obtain? thats a lot...price, ammo availability? What are ya lookin for?

No, this thread is about expressing your opinion of your view on those rifles on military or, or and civilian. You claimed those rifles are best rifles for military or, or and civilian. You need to put what ammo were you talking about and barrel or whatever that you feel it is important for us to know.

You can post only military rifle. Or you can post one or more for military rifles and other for civilian only.

You can view my example with M40A1 and Remington 700 titanium.
dude.... this isnt second grade...no games, no rules lets just talk about rifles...srry i just thought it was kinda weird when i read it

You have a point.

We need a rules to make this threat as very useful for someone to come in to check out what our opinion about best rifle. Many people out there in the world aren't interested into debate or on our comments. They just want to know our feeling of which rifle is best. It is a quick information for them to know. If they want to know more deep about your opinion and they can create other thread and discuss over there. If we do that it will make people find their topics/interests very easy and simple.

My opinion this forum is a little out of control with off-topic and overlaping topics on each threads. I am trying to set a role for this forum to make it easier and simple.
the problem is, your oversimplifying.
There is no perfect rifle, just the perfect rifle for you and the situation your in.

This topic is kinda useless if you ask me.

Did I said, "What is your perfect rifle?" no I said, "What is best rifle?" It meant for very general rifle purpose. Oversimplifying is not a word that I am looking for. I am looking for very simple with very clear statement of your opinion on your best rifle for general purpose with picture.

You are very right with this statement,
"There is no perfect rifle, just the perfect rifle for you and the situation your in."
I am trying to say this to you, did I gave specific area with rifles? Nope, I am looking for random rifles that you feel it is best rifle for you with military rifle group and civilian rifle group.

Again, I realized this forum only had -400 members on it. This thread is worthless for small number members. It is ideal for big numbers of members to share their opinions.
No, if you go to one of the larger forums they are going to say the same thing. General purpose could mean different things to different people. Mabye its just me, but this isnt a game. Its a science and an art. To be an artist you must have the right tools for the situation at hand. If your a house painter, general purpose might be a 5 inch wide brush. If your someone who does murals then it might be a 1 1/4in fantail.

Youve got to at least give a purpose for the rifle. Millitary could mean anything from basic infantry to designated marksman to sniper. Civillian could mean tactial, hunting, home defense.... and the rifle changes with each situation.

And please learn the proper tenses of words. Its hard to understand you.

I wish a good number of native English speakers would follow the same advice. :?

A lot of people don't even bother to divide their sentences with proper punctuation such as periods (.); it becomes irritating trying to sift through a fifth grader's writing.

lol yeah scatch... i am the god of the supurfluous comma.
I usually use periods though.
DeerHunter:

I don't think anyone means to discourage you, but the points are well made that the topic is too broad. There is no best civilian rifle or military rifle. I can not even name a single rifle that I would chose if the option were given to me. They are all so different, and have their strengths and weaknesses.

sorry

The best rifle is the one I have in my hands.

Too many folks are looking for the one "best rifle". And the "best rifle" lies somehow out of reach.

Just arm yourself with something and learn how to use it. If a rifle feels good in your hands, then you are part of the way there.

And don't feel bad with a cheaper military surplus gun. If it has a good bore and if it is chambered for a serious caliber, then you are ahead of the game.

Personally, I feel very well armed with my 11mm 1871/84 Mauser. It shoots 386 grain lead slugs at 1350 fps and it makes the .44 Magnum look like a white mouse. And it holds a bunch of rounds in its tubular magazine.

The piece looks somewhat quaint; however, I guarantee that in a tough spot that cavernous bore would prove effective.

The 11 mm Mauser has been used in Africa as a big game number.

I'm referring
to people who just
start a new paragraph
to show that they have a new sentece
or start a new paragraph for no reason it gets real annoying
when they just jam sentences together without a period too.

Hey, cool post Mad. Once bitten by the mil surp bug, its hard to find a cure lol. I agree though, on a budget, they are an excellent solution. Lots will be as accurate as a factory sporting rifle, and fire a very equivelent cartridge as well. You can spend 100 dollars on the rifle and build as you go. K-31s have a great reputation for accuracy, and the good old Swede mausers are hard to beat too. Or, a nice SKS or Nagant for economic shooting.

That 11 mm Mauser sounds a lot like a factory 45-70 load, I would use it on big game :)

I'm thinking about starting a Nagant 91/30 "sniper" project right now, to re create the ww2 rifle.
If you want authentic optics, those will cost you on your Nagant recreation. The quality may be shoddy as well, the manufacturing processes were not as good as the Germans' until after 1943.
