I built this rifle to serve double duty as a deer rifle and to compete in Ft. Knox's 1000yd "F" class. First time out with Sierra 220s I came in second with 395 of 400. It prints consistent .3MOA with hand loads and .4 to .5 MOA with Fed GMM 190s.

Savage 110FP
.300 Win Mag
McMillan A5 bedded with Brownells Steel-Bed
Nightforce 3.5-15X50 w/ NP-1 reticle and mounts.
I firelapped the barrel with the NECO kit using only 400, 800, and 1200 grit.
The paint is a combination of high heat engine stuff that covered semi wet with Krylon ultra flat.
My only caveat is to avoid the internal cheek rest; get the saddle type because of the time involved using the wheel to lower it for bolt removal.

like my savage

as used in rifled/pistols firelapping is where the bullets are coated with lapping compound and fired in the weapon thus fire lapping the bore works pretty well I'm told. David tubb among others uses or at least endorses this procedure.also Dead Roman please contact me through the private message or something, I live in Mexia Texas Weird huh?

A work of Art !

It is a very nice piece of art work, I belive that all weapons are just that ART WORK, I would love to have that finish on a couple of my rifles, is it something that you can tell us how to obtain?
I know that you said that you were getting .3 MOA cosistantly but I did not see at what distance you were recording this, thanks for shareing it with us.

I will probably never buy one, but it is good to hear about their quality.

Congrats on the rifle match!

Thanks:)

Thanks all:) The scope is great except for the floating reticle; it gives the impression of canting when my stock weld changes in different positions. The paint is my own work and it works pretty well except on the bolt where it rubs. I think firelapping helped the accuracy and I know it helped my 110FP .308 to eliminate most fliers. I have kept a shot record and my stated .3 to .5MOA is consistent at 100, 200, 300, and 1000yds. The only time she goes outside of that I am at fault. I have a 5 round group that measures .380 using Sierra 175s behind 55g of Varget. All in all I am most pleased with this rifle. Also I just put Kenton Industries BC knobs set for Winchester BST 180g. I haven't confirmed them yet but I will let you all know how the work in the near future.

The only thing i can say about Savage is that it shoots as accurate as my Remington 700 just because you buy something for a lower price does not mean its cheaply made. Yes there are several companies that rip you off as much as posible, but ill put my 300 ultra mag long action againt any other brand 300 ultramag long action any day of the week !!

any takers!! should be fun if everyone is honest!!
oh my comment on the gun
wrong color for me but looks bad a**
