I have an older short action 700 reciever, and a pile of parts I'm trying to get cobbled into a rifle.

Will a new take-off X Mark Pro trigger fit an older 700 Reciever?

I have several 700s, and I have no problem with the old triggers.

I have an old style trigger for this gun, but it's lacking a safety and bolt catch. Ever try to buy just piece parts? It's a lot easier to buy a complete new trigger assy.

I have no love or indifference for the X Mark trigger, I'm just concerned whether it will fit an older 700.

Brownells.com has the pieces parts. I just but some pieces parts to make a part X-Mark Pro a whole X-Mark pro. They also sell complete X-Mark triggers for $70 or $80 but for that I'd kick in the extra and get a Timney.

The answer to the original question, is yes.

A X-Mark Pro trigger will fit an old 700 just fine.

However, a stock from a non-X-Mark era gun will require a little extra inletting for the safety to clear in all positions.


And for the piece parts, I found that Midway is plenty resourceful. They had the bolt release, spring, and pins at reasonable prices. Brownells may have them, but for whatever reason of ineptness on my part, I could not find them.
