!

It helps to know your area you are working/stalking in and what to avoid.

Nothing will give away your position faster then a crawl over a red ant hill or hornets nest (many are under ground....I found out the hard way by stepping in one once). As far as many spider and bugs they don't tend to sting/bite unless provoked and many times will just crawl over your hand and keep going.

Jump up and down really fast screaming "IT'S IN MY HAIR!!! IT'S IN MY HAIR!!!". The enemy will be laughing so hard it gives you time to call for extraction and get to proper medical facilities. Or just silently swear and use the bite kit.

I hope you are not_that_allergic to bug bites.....if you are...I would try to look for another profession. :)

Nah, not me. I just flick it off of me and move on. No matter how much it hurts, no matter, how much it stings, cause I ain't got time to... DAMN THAT'S SWELLING!!!

Bleh bug bites... who cares... If you are in the military and you have played out in the field you have been bitten alot and should be use to it by now. There are tics, ants, fleas, chiggers, spiders, snakes, scorpions, bees and "and last but the one I hate the worse" mesquitos etc. If you have done a little bit of crawling you have problably been bitten buy just about all of these minus anything venemous. There are things you can do to stop chiggers, mesquitos from biting you by simply eating a sulferized match head 3 days before you go to the field "it works".

re

I very rarely get bitten by bugs fortunately. I did once get the willies though when I walked through a large spiders web in the dark, to hear a loud thud followed by scuttling. I'm none too keen on spiders.

One of the most common things to be bit by are mossies, but the army has a cunning way of dealing with the issue, in handing out mossie repellant cream. Whoever is naive enough to put it on finds himself coated in the buggers while everyone else is safe.

so they have a bite kit i wasn't worried about burning feeling from getting bit i was thinking more about the ones that they tell us civilians to get to the hostpital as soon as possible not that worried about bites that sting

Hey Whiteboycustom, where were you when this happened (part of the country, etc.)? I'm an entomologist (bug expert) and would really like to hear more about this. Can you email the pics to me so you don't have to post them?

I have an idea about what it was, but I'd rather not go into it before I know more of the facts.
