Afriend told me this was possible if I just trim the cases - anyone ever try it? Seems like a lot of brass to reform to make it work, but I can have 1000 30-06 cases for free if I want...
As seen here...madgunsmith said:Run the .30-06 brass through a .308 trim die. Then cut off the excess brass using a hacksaw blade. Then file and chamfer.
It's time consuming but not that difficult to do. If you have to make .308 brass, it's easier to make it from 8mm Mauser brass.
Mad.
Sure thing, just let me know what you have, I'm sure we can work something.bluthndr said:Sounds like a deal to me. I will polish what I have from him so far, and let you know what the headstamp is.

I have a metric butt load of .308 brass if you would like to do a trade. PM me if you like.
Rigger
thanks for the correction. I guess I could've gotten off my lazy fat butt and gone to the safe and looked.ekaphoto said:06 is NOT belted. Not worth the effort to resize IMHO. I am sure it can be done with enough effort, trimming etc etc, just get some 308 brass instead.oneeyedmac said:Isn't .30-06 a belted round? 308 is not a belted round. I don't know if it would be worththe effort to resize .30-06 to .308 if it can even be done.
I did actually do a google search, I'm sure you tried that too, and nothing came up on resizing .30-06 to .308 but there were things one resizing other cases.
