Savage 11 Heavy Varmit barrel .223 rem.

I just picked up a Savage model 11 in .223 with a Heavy varmint barrel. It's actually a package put together for Dick's sporting goods exclusively called the Savage 11 vt. Hope to start the barrel break in process this weekend and will keep you posted with the results. But I have high expectations for this sub $600 rifle.

Anyone else have one and willing to share what type of results they are getting?

What "break in" process do you subscribe to?

Shoot 1 then clean
Repeat 10 times
Shoot 3 then clean
repeat 5 times
Shoot 5 then clean
repeat 5 times

Considered complete

No more cleaning unless groups begin to change or rifle falls in mud ect.

I humbly recommend that you clean the snot out of barrel prior to shooting. I don't do barrel break in, but I won't argue about the validity, or lack of either.

Same. Shoot and only clean after grouping starts to increase otherwise I don't clean.
