I have A Gen 1 4-14x56 Springfield Armory scope.I think it makes a okay deer hunting scope but is not a target or tactical quality scope. It's about the same quality as a Simmons or Tasco from the late 70s. I had it mounted on my 700 Remington with a douglas stainless bull barrel and a Choate ultimate sniper stock.I switched it for a 4-16x50 Mueller, and drastically improved my groups at 200 yards. If you are thinking of buying one,I'd wait until after Mele gives his review. The Mueller Tac II ,new, goes for about half of what a Springfeild goes for on Gunbroker or E-bay.They had a lot of good features, like 30mm tubes and the cool range finding reticle. Too bad about the mediocre glass and internals.
